Our Top Five Must-Have’s to Achieve Results from Your Marketing Efforts

Marketing Checklist

1. Define Your Goals

It’s Uber important to discern the end goal of your marketing efforts. Exactly what do you want to achieve? Without this, there is no way to solidify a strategy or action plan.

Whether you’re looking to increase brand awareness, boost sales, introduce a new product, or grow your social media following, it’s crucial to have the laser focus to align your strategies accordingly. For instance, videos and banner ads can be used to increase brand awareness, while conversion CPC ads can boost sales conversions. If you are looking to build your brands’ network and social media audience you might want to run a contest or campaign to build your email list, or maybe collaborate with an influencer to convert/ expose their followers to your brand. Knowing the needs of your business can help you identify the marketing goals necessary for your brand’s growth. So first, identify the needs of your business and what resources are required to meet those needs—is it more followers, more brand awareness, a larger online customer network to market to? Knowing this will help you identify where your efforts should be focused, and thus create clear marketing goals.

Next, set defined metrics to measure your success and be willing to make adjustments, if needed. Depending on the marketing effort, you can analyze and monitor how these efforts are working.

2. Identify Your Target Market

Define exactly who your ideal customers are and become familiar with their preferred platforms, needs, routines, and interests. Your audience may include  competitive riders, horse owners, barn owners, or trainers and they all have a specific engagement pattern and lifestyle. Do your research and stay relevant – it will pay off.

For instance, if your market is competitive riders in hunter-jumper disciplines, you might want to know where the major competitions are taking place. Which social media platforms and profiles do they engage with regularly? What are their needs in caring for their horses? What motivates them as a consumer? What do their horses need?

All of this information can help define a) where you should market to this audience b) what products or services you should prioritize marketing to this audience c) what type of messaging and call to action your marketing deliverables should have that this audience can relate to.

3. Diversify Your Efforts

With so many options for interaction in the equestrian world, why choose only one marketing product or platform? Expand your reach across multiple channels; your unique strategy can include social media and Google Ads, eblasts, digital and print placements, sponsorships, events, and trade shows.

Always, remember to implement SEO to optimize your digital marketing. You can track your efforts, such as the click-through’s to your website using UTM’s and more to understand which channel is performing best for you. Using this information can help you strategically allocate your budget based on results.

4.  Align Socials With Your Campaign

Social media remains the super hero of marketing in our industry. Plan and create engaging content that propels you toward your goals.

High quality videos and photos posted regularly will harness algorithms and boost your online presence. Consider supercharging your brand by collaborating with influencers to reach new audiences.

This is again where understanding your target audience is key, not only should the messaging in your promotional videos, commercials, banners etc. be consistent and targeted—but you should also be sure to use this same messaging and branding in your socials to continue conversations with your target audience in an organic way that can help build brand equity, relatability and customer trust.

5.  Engage With Potential Customers

In a world where human interaction and positive customer service is often lacking, be the brand that pays it forward by building relationships and trust with your audience even before they become customers; reply to online questions and comments, ask for feedback, and express appreciation. This will not only encourage them to become a customer, but also ensure loyalty and inspire them to be your brand’s best advocate.

It’s entirely possible to not only achieve your goals, but exceed them when you implement focused, intentional marketing strategies.
